Say what you will about California -- not only is where most of the Okies endeed up, but if you look at the history of country music, it probably wouldn’t be much bigger than bluegrass if it hadn’t been for all that came out of the Golden State. By the time you add in Texas, and the Southwest and the Rockies and all that, you know why the music’s truest name was always Country & Western.
